Peter plays this week's Australian Masters at Royal Melbourne, hoping he can improve considerably on his recent form in order that he can have his game in shape for next week's Stage Two Qualifying for the 2014 Web.Com Tour.

A poor second day at last week's Australian PGA Championship proved costly for Peter as he missed the cut thereby missing valuable competitve golf.

A two time winner of the Australian Masters, Peter is keen to play at Royal Melbourne, a new venue for the event. Previously played at Hunitingdale, Kingston Heath and Victoria Golf Club the event becomes part of a two festival of golf at Australia's most iconic golfing venue.

Peter leaves immediately after the event and heads to California for Stage Two Web.Com Tour Q School then intends being back for the Australian Open the following week at Royal Sydney.

Peter was practising hard yesterday at Royal Pines wokring a lot on his chipping which has been a constant problem for him for some time.

"While in Sydney over the past couple of weeks this part of my game is somehting I have spent a lot of time on and to be honest it is starting to feel a lot better," said Peter.

I was disappointed at my effort at the Perth International three weeks ago as I felt the scoring didn't necessarily reflect how I played but  I need to get all of my game a lot sharper if I am to play better this week and at next week's Masters and then of course I have Second Stage Qualifying for the Web.Com Tour.

After Stage Two of the Web.Com Tour qualifying Peter will return to play the Australian Open and provided he has made it to the final stage of the Web.Com Tour will head back to the US the week after.

It is a busy schedule but essentially one Peter has to follow if he is to return to play in the US in 2014.

Following his disappointing visit to Perth recently to play the West Australian Open and the Perth International Peter now looks ahead to the next few weeks hoping he can get his game in shape for a big November and hopefully December.

Peter missed the cut by quite a few at the Perth International and has since been preparing for next week's PGA Championship at Royal Pines, the Talisker Masters at Royal Melbourne, Stage Two of the Web.Com Tour qualifying in California and the Australian Open at Royal Sydney.

It is a tight schedule and one that will require a lot of travelling but in order to be playing on the Web.Com Tour next year, Peter needs to try and get at least to the final stage of qualifying in December.

He will rush back home to play the Australian Open before heading back to play the Final Stage of Qualifying if he makes it through.

Peter has been a three time winner of the PGA Championship at its previous venue at Coolum on the Sunshine Coast, one of thos titles shared with Jarrod Moseley.

Lake Karrinyup impresses Peter

After a solid workout last week when he battled back after a slow start at the W.A. Open to finish just outside the top twenty, Peter tees it up this week at the Perth International feeling pretty good about the way is game is taking shape.

"The first few holes last week were just awful but it came together late in the round and then overall I played pretty well from there," said Peter on Tuesday evening from his hotel room in Perth.

Considering it was Peter's first event for six or so weeks it was not surprise things were a little rusty early.

"I think the golf course here at Lake Karrinyup for this week's event is fantastic," added Peter. "It is in mint condition and the they seem to have it set up just right. It is almost like a Melbourne course and the greens are superb."

"Hopefully I can continue the improvement I showed later in the week at Mt Lawley."

Solid start to WA Open for Peter

Peter has staged a good comeback from a slow start to the WA Open in Perth in what is his first event for five weeks.

An opening round of even par 72 on Thursday was more impressive than it sounds having been three over through 11 holes but a run of birdies got him under par before a bogey at the last.

Then, on Friday, Peter made a good start and was two under when he made the turn and inside the top twenty in the event. Three bogies early in his back nine would prove costly but he safely made the cut and is not all that far from the leaders as the event enters the weekend.

Given his lack of tournament play of late it has been an encouraging start for Peter as he looks ahead to several important events over the next six weeks or so including a visit to Stage Two of the Web.Com Tour School.
