Peter recorded one of his worst rounds in tournament golf during the second round of the Australian Open at the Australian Golf Club in Sydney a nine over par 80 ensuring he would have the weekend off.

Peter, though, was quickly back on the horse, heading out to the Lakes to practice ahead of next week's NSW PGA Championship at Riverside Oaks and the Australian PGA Chamionship at Royal Pines a week later.

Peter today played the pro am for this week's Emirates Australian Open at the Australian Golf Club and indicated that he was happy with the progress with his game since his return to tournament golf two weeks ago.

" It has been a little frustrating as I am tending to take one step forward an then one step and occasionally two steps back but I feel I am striking the ball well, my chipping is improvingand I am feeling good about things."

Last weekend was on the verge of being a lot better than it was so we will keep plugging away and hopefully it will begin to fall into place.

Peter won the second of his two Australian Opens at the Australian in 2004 and although he had played there earlier this year this was the first time he had seen the course and its new changes.

"The course is in great shape and I am looking forward to getting going this week."

Tough weekend for Peter at Metropolitan

It was a tough weekend for Peter at the BetEasy Mastercard Masters, rounds of 78 and 72 seeing him drop back from 36th at the halfway mark to finish well back.

Peter now looks ahead to one of his favourte courses in Australia, the Australian Golf Club in Sydney, where he won the second of his Australian Opens in 2004.

Late struggle costly for Peter

Peter has safely made the cut at the BetEasy Masters at the Metropolitan Golf Club in Melbourne his halfway total of even par leaving him in 36th position and two shots inside the cut line.

It was a day that promised more especially when Peter birdied the 2nd to move to 4 under for the tournament at which point he was within one of the lead. He was still in good shape with just a few holes to play but dropped shots at his 14th, 15th, 16th and 18th holes saw him slip back and although he birdied the 17th it was a disappointing finish.

Still he is not all that far from being in the thick of things and a round of 68 or better tomorrow might have him within striking distance on Sunday.

Peter happy with progress at Metropolitan

Peter played early in today's pro am at the Metropolitan Golf Club ahead of this week's Bet Easy Masters and like nearly everyone else this week was heaping praise on the Metropolitan Golf Club.

To be fair any golf course would have looked good in the perfect early morning conditions in Melbourne's sandbelt but this week Metropolitan has again reminded us all that she is one of the great courses of Australian golf and amongst the best in the world.

"It's been a while since I have been here but this is outstanding," said Peter. "It really is quite special and it is great they have a tournament of this standing back on it."

Peter played last week's NSW Open, his first event for nearly three months and overall was happy with the way he performed given his lack of tournament play.

"I feel I am hitting it really well at present and hopfully with a bit of rust removed this week things might go reasonably well touch wood."

Peter will play this week, the Australian Open, the NSW PGA and the Australian PGA Championship so by the time mid December comes around with the continuity of play he will have a better feel for where his game is heading.
