After a solid workout last week when he battled back after a slow start at the W.A. Open to finish just outside the top twenty, Peter tees it up this week at the Perth International feeling pretty good about the way is game is taking shape.

"The first few holes last week were just awful but it came together late in the round and then overall I played pretty well from there," said Peter on Tuesday evening from his hotel room in Perth.

Considering it was Peter's first event for six or so weeks it was not surprise things were a little rusty early.

"I think the golf course here at Lake Karrinyup for this week's event is fantastic," added Peter. "It is in mint condition and the they seem to have it set up just right. It is almost like a Melbourne course and the greens are superb."

"Hopefully I can continue the improvement I showed later in the week at Mt Lawley."

Solid start to WA Open for Peter

Peter has staged a good comeback from a slow start to the WA Open in Perth in what is his first event for five weeks.

An opening round of even par 72 on Thursday was more impressive than it sounds having been three over through 11 holes but a run of birdies got him under par before a bogey at the last.

Then, on Friday, Peter made a good start and was two under when he made the turn and inside the top twenty in the event. Three bogies early in his back nine would prove costly but he safely made the cut and is not all that far from the leaders as the event enters the weekend.

Given his lack of tournament play of late it has been an encouraging start for Peter as he looks ahead to several important events over the next six weeks or so including a visit to Stage Two of the Web.Com Tour School.

After more than a month back home in Sydney to attend to family matters, Peter is now in Perth for the next two weeks where he will play both this week's John Hughes Nexus Risk Services West Australian Open and next week's Perth International.

Peter is then scheduled to play the Australian PGA Championship and the Australian Masters before heading to California for Stage Two qualifying for the Web.Com Tour.

Peter has been practicing hard at The Lakes Golf Club in Sydney where he is a member and although he has not played competitively since the Cox Classic in August on the Web.Com Tour but towards the end of the season in the US began to put together several improved tournaments.

Peter is looking at these next few events as a chance to build his game prior to heading back to the USA but they are also important for him in terms of establishing just where he might play in the future.

As one of Australia's most prolific winner of domestic titles in the past fifteen years he adds a signficant boost to the Tier 2 event at Mt Lawley Golf Club.

Peter will play several events in Australia over the next two months while incorporating Stage Two and hopefully the Final Stage of Web.Com Tour School into his schedule.

Peter has been back in Sydney for three weeks attending to family business and indicated today that he will play the West Australian Open, the Perth International, the Australian PGA Championship and the Australian Masters before heading to Stage Two of qualifying for the Web.Com Tour in California.

"After the Second Stage I will head back to play the Australian Open at Royal Sydney, then provided things have gone ok at Stage Two I will be on my way back to the Final Stage of Qualifying," said Peter today.

"It will be a busy schedule but I have worked out I can fit it all in. It is a shame I didn't start to find form a little earlier on this year's Web.Com Tour but I was happy with the way I was beginning to play so hopefully I can pick it up where I left off."

Peter is of course a previous winner of the Australian PGA, the Australian Masters and the Australian Open so is delighted to have been able to build them into his schedule and still  play the Tour School

Peter considering options

With his 2013 Web.Com Tour campaign done and dusted, Peter now looks ahead to the options he has remaining in terms of where he will play over the next few months.

His brave bid for a last minute inclusion in the top 75 who would get to play the Web.Com Tour finals came to an end late in the final round of last week's Cox Classic. Knowing he need a top three to earn a place in the four event Finals, Peter worked his way into a share of 3rd with nine holes to go before a late bogey put paid to any chance he might have had.

Still, given the manner in which he has been playing to date this season, the last two or three weeks have shown considerable improvement and gives cause for some level of confidence as he considers a return to Stage Two of the Web.Com Tour School in mid November.

"That was a close one.I actually played great but was probably pushing a bit to hard in the end to catch the leaders," said Pete.

"Unfortunately I three putted from about 15 ft on 16 which really hurt after a pure 2 iron into the par 3.Then drove it 350 yards down 17 into long rough through the fairway.Never dreamt i could hit it that far.

"At the end of the day I needed one shot less to finish in the top100 which was an important number as well.

"I have made a few equipment changes of late and adjusted the anti-inflamatory medication I have been on for my back and hip issues and I seem to be a lot more focused. I also switched my putter to an extra long short putter and a new method adopted to accomodate that and it seems to have made a difference.

"Now I must decide what I will do over the next couple of months. I have the option of playing Stage Two of the newly introduced Web.Com Tour School which I am seriously considering but it may be that I will play a few events back in Australia beforehand.

"This has been a disappointing year although recent signs have been encouraging and have made me realise there is some life in the old dog yet and although it has been a case of too little too late at least there is some light at the end of the tunnel.
