Peter heads to WA ahead of the US

Peter has had a change of plans regarding his ongoing schedule and will play the WA PGA Championship in Kalgoorlie in early May before heading to the USA to prepare himself for his debut on the Champions Tour in the US when he gets a start at the Kitchen Aid Senior PGA Championship in Michigan.

"I feel the opportunity to play the event in Kalgoorlie on a golf course I like will be a good way to get some competitve golf before I head to the US and Florida where I am hoping to get in some further practice ahead of the Senior PGA Championship," said Lonard from his home in Sydney.

"Ideally I would have liked to have played more competitve golf in the US ahead of the PGA but even the opportunity to attempt Monday qualifying there is limited so I am doing my best to prepare in the best way possible."

Peter has been enjoying the early stages in the life of his and wife Ali's newborn, Yvonne, now seven months old and according to Peter providing some very special moments in his life.

 City Golf Club's 18th hole

Peter is in Toowoomba in Queensland's Darling Downs this week for the Queensland PGA Championship at the City Golf Club chasing improvement on his recent missed cut at last week's ISPS Handa Super 6 Perth and the Australian and Victorian Opens previously.

With just this week and the ISPS Handa's New Zealand Open Championship in two week's time ahead of a campaign in the US where he hopes to gain starts on the Champions Tour, Peter is looking for the sort of confidence boost a good week at both events might bring.

The City Golf Club is a short low scoring layout but for Peter is offers yet another opportunity to get the momentum moving forward ahead of the more lucrative New Zealand Open and the events in the US in which he is hoping to Monday qualify.

Peter eyes Champions Tour starts

Peter has completed his summer of golf in Australia and now looks ahead to potential and actual starts on the Champions Tour.

It was a summer of mixed results for Peter in Australasia having made the cut in three of the six events between the NSW Open and the NZ Open but there was enough good golf in between to have him heading to the US with a certain amount of confidence as he chases starts via Monday qualifying for events beginning in Houston in May 4th.

Peter is guaranteed a start at the Senior PGA Championship at Benton Shores in Michigan later in May and if he can manage a couple of good finishes in the events he plays then there will be the opportunity to play further events.

Peter has played just one event on the Champions Tour that coming when finishing 3rd behind Bernhard Langer and Corey Pavin at the Senior British open in Wales last year but for a range of reasons he has been unable to pursue ongoing starts.
