Peter safely through to the weekend at Vic Open

Peter has safely made the cut in what is his first tournament of 2018, the Oates Victorian Open at 13th Beach on the Bellarine Peninsula.

Consecutive rounds of 71 have Peter at 2 under for the tournament and well inside what appears will be the likely cut line of 1 under.

Two birdies and one bogey highlighted a rather uneventful round but to be around for the weekend is important as Peter gets back into tournament mode over the next few weeks.

He will need a similar round or better tomorrow it would seem if he is to make the leading 35 players through to Sunday.

Peter will play next week's Super 6 event in Perth followed by the Queensland PGA Championship and two week's after that the New Zealand Open in Queenstown.

He will then look at a campaign in the US to try and gain access to the Champions Tour so making the cut this week and getting tournament golf under his belt is crucial for what lies ahead.

Peter will play events on the Australasian Tour in early 2018, ahead of attempts to earn starts on the Champions Tour via Monday qualifying or where other starts present themselves.

There is a stong possibility he will have starts at the Senior PGA Chamionship and one or two other events and is currently considering attempting qualifying for the Champions Tour event in Hawaii in mid January.

There are Australasian Tour events in Victoria, Perth and New Zealand in the first couple of months which he will likely play dependant on how things pan out in Champions Tour ventures.

Peter misses out on Champions Tour card
Written by Bruce Young
Saturday, 02 December 2017

Peter has finished 23rd at the Champions Tour Qualifying in Arizona, the result not enough to earn him a card to play on the lucrative tour in 2018 but it will allow him to attempt Monday qualifying for events next season.

Peter's brilliant third round of 63 moved him to the edge of contending for one of the sought after cards but he would have needed another similar round today if he was to get the job done.

It was always going to be a tough task for Peter given the numbers game involved but he will be bouyed by his overall showing and he will now consider playing the Champions Tour where he can earn a  start and the occasional event on the European Senior Tour where he does enjoy status.
