Despite the, at times, demanding nature of the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club layout at this week's RBC Canadian Open, Peter has expressed satisfaction with his game over all. A double bogey at his final hole did not do him any favours but he was still upbeat about his week and the ongoing comfort he is gaining with his game.

A closing round of 72 actually gained a little ground with Peter eventually finishing in a share of 50th.

"Had a bit of a long week but am already looking forward to next week," said Peter en route to Salt Lake City. "I actually played pretty well on my back nine today and think I am back on the right track."

"I definitely need a couple of good weeks and I am hopeful of getting into the Reno tournament the following week."

Peter's next assignment is the Nationwide Tour event this week in Sandy, Utah, the Utah Championship.

The Reno Tahoe Open runs opposite the World Golf Championship event in Ohio next week so it might just offer Peter a chance for another PGA Tour start

Peter through to weekend in Vancouver

It looked for a while as if it might be a close call but Peter has made the cut at the RBC Canadian Open, adding a second round of 70 to his opening 73 and at 3 over par he is in 52nd position and a shot inside where he neded to be in order to play the final 36 holes.

Knowing he needed to shoot par or better today if he was to have a realistic chance of making the cut, Peter got off to a good start on the demanding Shaughnessy Golf Club layout in Vancouver when his tee shot at the par three 12th (his third hole) finished 10 feet behind the flag and he converetd for birdie.

The came two bogeys before the turn and at 4 over he was on the cusp. He missed a couple of reasonable opportunities early in his back nine but on the other hand also made a couple of good par saves. The cushion would come when he hit a great approach at the par five 16th after been forced to lay up when finding the rough from the tee.

He holed a six foot putt there to have a little bit to spare over the closing two holes. He made a very good par save at his final hole from 70 yards to stay in touch of with a potential good finish if he can put together two good weekend rounds.

Canadian Open next for Peter

Peter is in Vancouver in Canada for this week's RBC Canadian Open, the start in the PGA Tour event coming as a  result of his top ten finish in last week's Viking Classic in Mississippi. The tournament is being played at the Shaughnessy Golf Club.

Following Wednesday's final practice round Peter had the chance to outline his thoughts on the course this week and his game. He did not get to play the event last time it was held at this venue in 2005 but was enthusiastic about what he has seen.

"What a course this is. It's more like a US Open than any other. The course is playing relatively long and the rough is unbelievably thick. The fairways are very narrow to boot. It will be quite a test.

"I still feel pretty good about my game but it's going to be a long week. Hitting a lot of fairways will be a must.

"I would take anything under par in a heart beat for this week. Once again we are hoping for a top ten at worst so as to continue on to the next stop."

Peter has a 9.00am tee off on day one.
