Last round of 74 at Aust PGA ends 2016 for Peter

Peter has finished 40th at the Australian PGA Championship at RACV Royal Pines, a final round of 74 not quite what he was hoping for to follow up his impressive 3rd round of 67 on Saturday.

Peter has finished 46th on the 2016 PGA Tour of Australasia's Order of Merit and will look ahead to a return to the Web.Com Tour in 2017 where he retains status courtesy of the category given to former PGA Tour players in their 48th and 49th years.

Other events early in the New Year such as the Victorian Open and the Victorian PGA Championship may also be on his  schedule but he will consider his options over the Xmas and New Year period.

Peter just survives cut at Royal Pines

Peter has just survived the cut at the 2016 Australian PGA Championship at RACV Royal Pines, becoming a late inclusion in the weekend field when one of the last players on the golf course at RACV Royal Pines on Friday faltered over the last few holes.

The cut fell at 2 over par and Peter sat on that score and waited to see his fate for nearly two hours before the cut score was confirmed.

A bogey at his final hole, the par five 9th, appeared as if it might have cost Peter the chance to play the weekend but he lives to fight another day and with the advantage of an early morning tee time on day three he could well work his way back towards a reasonable finish in the event

Peter will play his last event of 2016 when he tees it up in this week's Australian PGA Championship at RACV Royal Pines.

Playing his practice round yesterday, Peter re-iterated the feeling that he has towards the major revamp the course has undertaken over the past two years perhaps reflecting his good performances in the event on the two occasions he has played at RACV Royal Pines during its rennovation.

"I like it," said Peter. "You can see that the initial nine completed in the two stages of construction is a little more advanced than the latter but that is understandable and certainly that first nine is perfect."

Peter finished 9th last year and at one stage was knocking on the door of contention over the latter stages of his final round.

A three time winner of the PGA Championship and once runner-up during the event's time at Hyatt Regency Coolum, Peter has a a real love for his national PGA Championship, especially given that he was for two or three years a club professional Oatlands Golf Club in Sydney.

Peter will play at 6.20 am on Thursday with Craig Parry and Peter O'Malley.
