Peter has managed a late start at the Champions Tour event in Minnesota this week, another chance to gain some traction on that tour.

Following a 24th place last week at the Senior Open Championship at St Andrews, Peter was advised a start was available to him via the alternate category and he was keen to take advantage as he chases staus on the Champions Tour.

The 3M Championship at the TPC Twins Cities in Blaine is a US$1.75 million event and with several of the leading players on the Champions tour taking a break after the demands of big events in recent weeks an opportunity opened up for Peter.

"We played the pro am yesterday and I am ready to go on Friday," said Peter referring to the three day nature of this event. "I am playing ok but probably not driving it as well as I could be.

"Fingers crossed Ivan sort it out today on the range today."

"Getting the start is a lucky break so I would love to take advantage of this opportunity.

"Bulldogs beating the Broncos is hopefully a good omen," added Peter referring to his favourite NRL team.

Peter will play with Scott Dunlap and Russ Cocharne in the opening two rounds.

Peter was no doubt disappointed to have missed the cut at the PGA Tour's Barbasol Championship in Kentucky but given the way that event evolved it might well have been a blessing in disguise.

The event was severely disrupted by weather and did not finish until Monday morning so for Peter, who was already on a tight deadline in order to get to this week's Senior Open Championship at St Andrews, it could have made things very awkward if he had been required to play all 72 holes.

Peter is now in St Andrews where he plays the Senior Open Championship, an event in which he finished third in his Senior debut twelve months ago.

Following his solid showing at the Senior Players Championship two weeks ago, Peter missed the cut by several shots last week but his mind may well have been elsewhere given the delays involved in Nicholasville.

Importantly however was that he was to play more competitve golf and will tackle this week's event with growing momentum for for a tilt at one of senior golf's major championships.

Peter has finished in 24th place at the Constellation Senior Players Championship and although unable to capture the magic of his second round of 64 over the final 36 holes it has been a solid week for Peter esepcially given his lack of tournament play in recent months.

Peter's final round of 70 gained him a few places on the final day and further confirms that if he is able to gain acces to regular events on the PGA Tour Champions then he could do very well.

Peter is two weeks away from playing his next PGA Tour Champions event at the Senior Open Championship at St Andrews but he has been able to secure a start at next week's PGA Tour event in Kentucky, the Barbasol Championship, before heading across to Scotland and will take advantage.
