Peter prepares for long stretch
Written by Bruce Young

Peter has had a week off to recharge his batteries and he was grateful for the break. "To be honest as much as I hate to say it I was worn out," said Peter from the venue for this week's Boise Open in Idaho.

"I really didn't do a lot last week and just enjoyed a break after so many weeks on the road. Now it is a case of knuckling down to a stretch of tournaments through to what will hopefully be the Tour Championship. Clearly I need a few good results to get there but was happy enough overall with the way I was playing before last week despite the fact that I was missing cuts."

There are seven more events remaining on the 2011 Nationwide Tour schedule and currrently Peter is in 105th place on the money list. He clearly needs something special to threaten the top 25 but other money list milestones are important in terms of gaining access to the Final Stage of PGA Tour qualifying and guaranteeing himself full access again to the Nationwide Tour should he need it so the next few weeks are important.

Peter is guaranteed access to at least Stage Two of PGA Qualifying as a result of the number of cuts he has made during his PGA Tour career.

A welcome week off for Peter

Peter is now back in Orlando after a seven week stretch of tournaments which brought mixed results. The Nationwide Tour has a break this week and Peter will be working hard on his game to have things on track for his return in ten days time.

The stretch of events was highlighted by his very good week at the Viking classic on the PGA Tour but that aside there has been little in the way of results to show for his efforts.

Peter again missed the cut at the Mylan Classic but as has so often been the case this season his play was not as bad as his scoring has suggested. He again flirted with the cutline for much of his second round before two late bogeys cost him the chance of all important weekend play.

Peter will next play at the Boise Open in Idaho beginning on September 15th and with only seven more events remaining on the Nationwide Tour schedule he is only too aware of what is required over the closing stages of 2011.

Peter frustrated by near misses

It was another frustrating week for Peter at this week's Nationwide Tour event in Tennessee. Peter missed the cut by two shots after an encouraging stretch of holes in the middle of his second round had him on track after what had been a slow start on Thursday.

Two double bogeys in round one had come on two par fives and on reflection they would prove crucial in his chances of playing the weekend. He started slowly on day two but then birdied his 6th, 8th and 9th  holes and when he then eagled his 10th hole he was on just one shot outside the cut line with eight holes to play on the low scoring layout.

Unfortunately the one extra birdie he was chasing did not eventuate and instead he bogeyed a hole late in his round and he would miss by two.

Peter is feeling the frustration. "Yeah its starting to wear me out a bit. I am actually playing tee to green as well as I ever have but can't seem to make a putt. Anyway I am off to Pittsburgh tomorrow and hopefully will get something going before I have the following week off.

"Either way it will be nice to get home after nine weeks on the road."

Peter heads north to Pittsburg for this week's Mylan Classic at the Arnold Palmer designed Southpointe Golf Club near Pittsburg.
