Canadian Open next for Peter
Written by Bruce Young
Thursday, 21 July 2011

Peter is in Vancouver in Canada for this week's RBC Canadian Open, the start in the PGA Tour event coming as a  result of his top ten finish in last week's Viking Classic in Mississippi. The tournament is being played at the Shaughnessy Golf Club.

Following Wednesday's final practice round Peter had the chance to outline his thoughts on the course this week and his game. He did not get to play the event last time it was held at this venue in 2005 but was enthusiastic about what he has seen.

"What a course this is. It's more like a US Open than any other. The course is playing relatively long and the rough is unbelievably thick. The fairways are very narrow to boot. It will be quite a test.

"I still feel pretty good about my game but it's going to be a long week. Hitting a lot of fairways will be a must.

"I would take anything under par in a heart beat for this week. Once again we are hoping for a top ten at worst so as to continue on to the next stop."

Peter has a 9.00am tee off on day one.

Close call for Peter at Viking Classic
Written by Bruce Young
Monday, 18 July 2011

There was both disappointment and satisfaction in Peter's voice as he recounted today's final round of the Viking Classic.

Peter finished with a round of 71 after sharing the lead with two holes to go at the PGA Tour event at the TPC River's Bend in Madison in Mississippi.

After a late call up to play the event Peter took full advantage and so nearly pulled it off but for a flyer out of the rough on the 17th hole which cost him a double bogey and the possible chance of a win.

Peter had started the final day one behind Chris Kirk and although he made a slow start to his round he was chellneging for the lead early in the back nine. When he birdied the 13th he actually had a share of the lead and again at the 16th before the double bogey struck.

"It was close today, said Peter a few hours after he had finished. "I made a couple of mistakes but over all it was ok. The flyer on 17 killed me but I should have hit it on the fairway to start with. My fault.

"I felt really good out there even though I wasn't hitting it great and the finish gets me into Canada next week so I am on my way up there tomorrow. Another top ten is needed to keep the dream alive!

I'll be trying my damndest!"

Brilliant finish gives Peter share of lead

Returning to the Annandale Golf club in Mississippi to start his second round of the Viking Classic on Saturday morning, Peter took a while to warm up but when he did he was almost unstoppable. Peter birdied seven of his last nine holes for a homeward nine of 29 in round two and as he had done in round one, shared the lead as the field headed into the afternoon's third round in the weather delayed event.

Peter would birdie his opening hole of round three with a lengthy birdie putt, giving him eight birdies in ten holes. He had the outright lead but bogeyed the 2nd after missing the 2nd at the par three. As the round porgresses however Peter is staying in touch with the leaders.

 Footnote

Peter has added two more birdies and at 17 under he wil start tonmorrow's final round just one behind the third round leader, Chris Kirk.
